Tried and Tested Endometriosis Management Plan #ENDOCHAMPIONS

The lifestyle of an endometriosis patient does play a crucial role in how well she fares in living with the disease which mostly runs for years.

In my last few articles, I covered how stress and constant fatigue and sleep deprivation take a toll on our health and we kind of miss the hold on our life.

Today I want to share a tried and tested endometriosis management plan I have arrived at after a lot of permutations and combinations. It incorporates all the learnings I have had in terms of things that help us in living peacefully with endometriosis from a patient's point of view.

So the two golden rules of endometriosis management are mild exercise daily and 100% discipline in the diet. If you can do this your symptoms will be sorted to a fair level along with the right medicines.

I am sharing my current routine of most days with you which I try to follow mostly without fail along with my Ayurvedic Medication specific to my symptoms and disease extent, prescribed by SKK Panchkarma in Janakpuri Delhi, and no this is not a sponsored post.

I get up around 4-5 a.m. and finish my meditations and writing followed by prepping the kid for school and other routines.

At 7 a.m. I sip my therapeutic turmeric-ginger-cinnamon concoction with my empty stomach Ayurvedic medication.

At 8a.m. I go for a walk in the forest behind my home. I walk for 30 minutes to 1 hour at a speed my body feels comfortable with because consistency matters more to me. Sometimes I pant within the first few minutes as my body is tired, that day I walk taking a lot of breaks diverting myself by clicking pictures of Mother Nature, dancing peacocks, or documenting my own walks. While resting I often pen some poems and articles because the words that flow out of my heart in the mornings are extremely healing and give my heart unparalleled joy.

At 9 a.m. I practice mild yoga and pranayama whenever I can. I also love swimming but here in Delhi, I am still not able to finalize a place where I can be a regular because as soon as we shifted here the world was hit by the pandemic. Before my Laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis in 2019 I used to love gymming but now I bleed profusely whenever I try so for endometriosis patients like me long nature walks and yoga are extremely satiating and comforting.

You can choose any form of mild workout depending upon what suits you but you must work hard in building the habit of doing it at least 5-6 times a week. Do it early morn and you will feel energetic post it as your body gets used to it. We are activating our body machinery this way and keeping it functioning smoothly and not withering away due to the disease.

At 10a.m. I shower, pray, and then I have my breakfast mostly fruits or Poha or smoothies or stuffed not gluten Roti with Chach, as I am restricted by my so far very effective Ayurvedic medicine, to avoid five categories of food which are as follows:

  1. No refined foods, oil, flour, or sugar
  2. No dairy other than chach or half a cup of milk in a day
  3. No packeted or processed food
  4. No bakery
  5. Mostly no gluten

Shall continue sharing the details in my tomorrow’s post, I hope this helps someone in need.
