Endometriosis causes immense lower stomach and pelvic pain in the women suffering from it and hinders their everyday functioning, confining them to bed. But the problem is we can’t really be confined to bed because we have a million things to do. So we develop a habit of popping strong painkillers regularly until the time they become ineffective in reducing our pain. Most of us feel it is routine to have periods pain but anything that disrupts your life cannot be normal.
Then perhaps we visit a gynecologist and she puts us on OCPs or hormone therapy. So next we start popping these for 21 days a month just to keep our pain at bay.
Soon they stop being effective too and you are next taking Leuprolide Injection to stop your periods.
Finally, you have had all of the above to the extent you can take in a lifetime and they recommend surgery either to remove the uterus(hysterectomy) of clean it of the endometrial implants post which you may be again given Leuprolide Injections.
And you lose almost a decade of your life in all of the above too busy raising your little kids and not noticing the severe side effects the above treatments have caused us,
Today I know the grave mistake I did and thus wanted to talk to you on this subject.
To say the least, the above medication gives the following side effects
- hot flashes
- tiredness
- problems sleeping
- headache
- depression
- joint and muscle stiffness
- bone loss
- vaginal dryness
Apart from severe weight gain and a complete mess up of the metabolism. Also, the dependence on painkillers is very strong.
My advice to you thus would be once you get your condition diagnosed, try alternate medicines first and change your lifestyle and diet with them. I am sure that will prove to be a better solution, it took me a decade to find this out but the sooner you know the better.
