Menopause helps in relieving Endometriosis- Truth or Myth? #ENDOCHAMPIONS

Since endometriosis is a condition that worsens in periods, an endometriosis patient is very keen to know if she can be relieved of her symptoms once she attains menopause. Particularly I had asked my doctors time and again.

In today’s post, we are analyzing this in depth.

After Menopause the estrogen release in our bodies does down and since estrogen is important for endometrial tissues to grow in 95% of cases a patient feels better after Endometriosis. Isn’t that really heartening?

Thus, Menopause improves endometriosis is a truth and not a myth.

This is precisely what you hear from your doctor too when you ask this question.

However, statistics show that in 2-5% of the cases, endometriosis is not cured even after menopause particularly if the patient has had acute endometriosis just before menopause or has been on hormonal therapy for a long time.

In this case, if it is left untreated the risk of cancer increases severalfold. So if your symptoms persist even after menopause, you must consult your gynecologist.

It is also essential to know that some women develop endometriosis after menopause sometimes for as long as after ten years of menopause and the symptoms remain the same apart from the bleeding.

This isn’t good news either and a thorough screening by a man experienced gynecologist must be scheduled immediately.
