Happiest Birthday to the one who completes me, who defines me, mom’s pride Arsh

Happiest Birthday to the coolest kid

May you remain this grounded and hardworking ever

That’s your momma’s earnest wish

You are beautiful inside out child

We are so blessed to have you in our lives

You have made our journey so worthwhile

Before you arrived, mamma was on a different track

Fiercely ambitious and unstoppable

You gave birth to stability and pure motherly love in her

The first glimpse of yours changed my life forever

In a moment you became my only priority

My world revolved around you and still does

The last twelve years with you have been absolute bliss

Each moment worthy, each second weaved as a precious memory

I have no regrets since see how wonderful a child you have grown up into

You make us proud every moment

Little joys of life arise out of your pure innocence

Mom and Dad admire your sensitivity and caring nature

Time is just flying by

And in my arms, I wish to hold you tight

Before you grow up into a handsome young man ready to fly

This makes me both happy and sad

While now I can’t keep cuddling and kissing you for twenty-four hours

To you, I can now pour my heart out

You are mamma’s best friend now

The one who listens to her and cares for her unconditionally

During all her bad and sick days without a frown

Reading, laughing and playing with you

Is what I love doing the most

I may not say this often but you are my most favorite person on this earth

Your advice is genuine and you sonny are my in-house editor

Honestly, I wouldn’t have written the five books, I had

Had it not been for your constant support and the praise for me in your eyes

You step into your 12th year now my love

Ready to slide out of mamma’s arms and face the real world

Remain this compassionate and beautiful soul forever

No matter what adverse circumstances arise,

Never be scared, never think of giving up

Instead, face it head-on and keep trying until you shine

Life is never a bed of roses my child

So befriend the thorns

Learn the face the challenges head-on

I may not always be there with you

But my words shall forever be your companions

In life’s rough seas

When I call you Mom’s Pride Arsh

It isn’t without a reason

You have always been this worthy a gem

From when you were very young

Your gold medals and laurels don’t mean

To me that much as the gentleness of your character

Happy Birthday once again my child

Remain this noble soul forever in your life

You are and will always be my pride

Truly Yours Roma

My darling angel,

You know why I chose to write these letters to you and no one else in this universe? That’s because I love you, the children, the most. You are precious innocent souls sent to us by God to give us serene happiness with your selfless giggles and cuddles.

No wonder people say they witness God in little kids. No one can give us as much pure love as them. It is undoubtedly a blessing to have little children around. I am an automobile engineer then why did I choose to start a communication skills academy? It was undoubtedly my extreme love for the tiny tots and a great desire to contribute in shaping up their future. The hours I spent with them were the best hours of my days where their innocent smiles wiped all my stress.

Similarly, you are extremely precious for me and I possess a secret desire to groom you personally, who knows I live to that day but I know you will at least know something about your granny from these letters and I will get to feel your love in heaven if I don’t survive.

In my today’s letter I wish to write to you about how during these troublesome #COVID19 pandemic times, our little bundles of joy too are acting as real little heroes. They haven’t gone out to school and play for so many weeks and must be feeling so claustrophobic at home but they can’t even express their feelings. They have been such epitomes of patience that I feel like taking a bow to them.
Of course, they have a craving to play in the garden or meet a friend and how their young innocent hearts are controlling it. A little boy called Shlok is our neighbor. He comes out every day and I see in his eyes how he yearns any of the neighborhood kids come out too and they play like before. He is your dad’s only friend here and it breaks my heart to see how these little ones have to suppress their desires and trust me they are doing more than a perfect job beta. My today’s letter is a tribute to these rocking superstars.

The fact is they possess a lot of internal strength and adaptability to do as their parents say. I am also extremely grateful to their schools to have begun virtual classes so that they are gaining the desired education every day. Parenting too has evolved in these times, we have to ensure that the kids don’t lose heart and feel lonely and try to be their constant companion. I am glad the little ones are learning a lot of life skills and are engaging with their parents to have some family fun doing yoga, making crafts, dancing, reading, etc. kudos to them as well as their parents. It takes a lot of effort on both their parts.

Of all the things that I would like to see when the corona threat subsides down, the first probably shall be to see these excited innocent souls go out and play to their heart’s content and then walk in a tiptoed march to their school smiling and giggling with their classmates, share their tiffins and play a little naughty. These are an integral part of their childhood and they indeed must get back to normal as early as possible.

The lesson learned my kid, is value the freedom you possess, enjoy your life and independence as no one has seen tomorrow, and ensure you make it worthwhile. After all, you are the best creation of God, cherish it, sweetheart.

Smearing your cheeks with infinite kisses
Your granny

Hello to the loveliest piece of my heart,

My flights of fantasy are wandering today and I imagine myself sitting on a dining table with you, your parents, and your grandpa and we are all merrily chitchatting over the dinner. Deep within my heart I am ecstatic to see this and pure love is oozing out from my heart for all of you. Words fail me to express how genuinely happy I feel to see all the loves of my life together. The fact that you have carried forward the family values of eating one meal together is really heartening. I feel overwhelmed and battle a strong desire to actually live up to that day and may be read out these letters to you myself or maybe just narrate the true stories of these #COVID19 times to you and as they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way. So I may probably find a way too😊.

Well, a strong will is also required by us in this pandemic phase, to find a way to a lot of things and seek happiness and feel blessed with whatever we have. With the number of coronavirus cases in India increasing alarmingly every day, it shall eventually be the survival of the fittest or the quickest to adapt as it is evident that the lockdown condition is here to stay for more time undoubtedly and even when it ends the journey isn’t going to be easy until we get a vaccine or a treatment for the same.

Apart from all the physical challenges of not getting the basic amenities I already wrote to you about, it is a far bigger mental challenge and tests our mental strength like never before. We have to possess a very strong will my child to find a way out of these tricky times which are here to stay, to keep ourselves happy and motivated.

Each one of us has to act wise and find smart solutions to move on in life as we still have to pay our bills and buy our food. Your grandpa has already made all his seven offices teams work  from home who only go to the warehouses for the supplies as and when required. This ensures things are moving for him as well as the team who don’t lose their mojo to perform. Many of his team members have carried the desktops home as they didn’t have laptops. Of course, it is not 100% business but not zero either.

I have agreed to resume my academy sessions online from 1st May 2020. Imparting knowledge gives a different kind of high and keeps me at my happiest best. It shall be a pleasure connecting with my old students and perhaps find a new bunch though I will have to adjust the timings so that the laptop is free at that time as your dad has Skype school from 8:30 to 1 every day. Living in Vadodara has taught us how to live with the minimum means without a complaint, it comes naturally to us now. We never thought that we will survive in 4-5 pairs of total clothes for a month and a half already but we had happily because when there’s a will to survive, there’s away.

The entire universe is currently working on this philosophy too, no matter how cliched it sounds. The entire education has gone online. Skype, Zoom and WebEx classes are new in and students are giving exams in google classrooms. Today is your dad’s first exam. Hail the data network because we don’t have a Wifi here. He is really a mixed bag of emotions at the moment but I am glad he is learning something new and has a purpose at hand. Extreme gratitude to his teachers for taking so much pain and efforts to educate our little ones.

Yes, globally there’s a great will to defeat this pandemic and I am extremely sure they will soon find a way for it. Scientists and researchers are working day in and day out for it. There is another section of meticulous constructors who are working on quickly putting up several makeshift hospitals to quarantine and treat the patients of this highly contagious and deadly virus. Economies are taking the biggest risk by shutting themselves down to flatten the curve and save their countrymen. Last but not the least, the doctors, the nurses, the paramedical staff, the policeman, the essential services sector all exhibiting a strong will to defeat the pandemic so God indeed will show us the way soon. Billions of prayers shall not go waste. Till then we have to keep ourselves mentally strong and smiling.

Remember my child, I am telling this to you, a zillionth time, come what may if you will have a will to achieve something, you will surely find a way. This is our lesson for today.

Sending your way the power to embrace the inevitable

Victory over the disease: My 22nd letter to my future Grandchildren documenting lessons from COVID-19 times

{This is the 22nd post of the series where I will be writing 26 Letters to my Grandchildren about life and lessons during these tricky COVID19 times. Letter12 , 3 , 56 , 78 ,9 , 10 , 11 ,1213 141516 , 17 , 181920 and 21 can be found here}

32nd day of Lockdown

My precious little sweetheart,

Do you dream, my boy or do you have a sound sleep mostly? To get a deep good night’s sleep is very important. I believe that I have always slept like a baby until my mind is fretting over something when I get really weird dreams. While most people say that they generally forget what they see in their dreams, I am the rare species who remembers almost 90% of my dreams whenever I have one.

So, yesterday was one of those days when I had a dream and if it was the most beautiful of them all, something that we have been craving for so long now. I dreamt of waking up one early morn and seeing that Corona was gone and we have achieved victory over the disease. Everyone around is smiling and hugging each other, it feels like Diwali or Christmas or Eid, I can’t make out clearly as I can see people of all castes and cultures together.

Those in the hospital are extremely elated to have got cured by the right medicines for #COVID19 and the rest are being given vaccines to fight it. The national and international boundaries have been opened for travel and everyone is ecstatic to rejoin their work. The Prime Minister of our country can’t hold his tears of joy as he addresses and congratulates the nation. We are so happy to travel back home and your dad is looking forward to playing with his toys once again. He has never yearned to go to his school this much, ever in his life. He is so ecstatic about meeting his friends and teachers.

Our sincere obedience during the lockdown has indeed paid us a fortune and we are rid of the biggest pandemic of our lives. It’s a beautiful day, I see people clad in beautiful clothes, all looking vibrant and extremely jubilant. How I had missed these smiles, this laughter. Life is beautiful once again.

In some time, we reach our home and I head to my favorite coffee shop with my MacBook, my old adda to peacefully right for hours but what do I see? I see I don’t take my car instead walk to the coffee shops as saving Mother Nature from pollution is my pure intent now which has sunk in deep during the lockdown days. Once I am back I am tending to my garden and home growing our produce in our tiny kitchen garden and this is the same with everyone around. We have learned to value things. We now take life as a precious gift and life, in turn, is blessing us in its full vigor. We have learned to co-exist with nature and other species with peace and warmth for each other. Indeed the lockdown days in self-introspection have brought out the best in us which was always there but got buried under the materialistic desires.

We have now learned to spend priceless quality time whet our family and are aware of our goals. I also see myself attending the ceremony where the scientist who gave us the medicine for Coronavirus is being awarded the noble prize. This scientist is apparently from Israel.

Within moments of being there I get up, such a heart-warming dream it was, I tell myself as I smile and feel so light and good though the very next moment comes the realization that it was just a dream probably inspired by the announcement yesterday which stated Israel has found the cure of this contagious disease😊. I can’t tell you how I wished that this dream of mine comes true at the earliest and we get a victory over this disease.

Probably my sincere urge to believe that only positive things will happen weaved this dream for me and gave me so much joy. Who knows this might be a premonition to something that is really going to happen. Maybe life is just waiting for us smiling at the next corner, soon the lockdown will end and we will tread the path and go and embrace it.

The lesson learned my child is, always be happy come what may, your brain will process your mental happiness and confer you eternal bliss no matter how difficult the situations are.

Stay happy and blessed forever my child

Until that day: My 21st letter to future Grandchildren documenting lessons from COVID-19 times

{This is the 21st post of the series where I will be writing 26 Letters to my Grandchildren about life and lessons during these tricky COVID19 times. Letter12 , 3 , 56 , 78 ,9 , 10 , 11 ,1213 141516 , 17 , 1819 and 20 can be found here}

31st day of Lockdown

My precious little bun,

Writing to you today as the first ray of sunrise falls on me from the window and inspires me to not succumb to the current circumstances. That’s the power of Mother Nature, she is a mother and takes care of us like her own children despite what we do to her.

This is the 21st letter I am writing to you my child and when I began writing to you early this month, I really hoped I shall be able to share some good news with you in so many days but unfortunately, I have none for you so far except for the belief that things will soon get better and

until that day we will not leave the side of hope

until that day we will still smile and suck in the tears welled up in our eyes

until that day we will try to become the better versions of ourselves

until that day we will not lose our patience

until that day we will learn a new skill or re-ignite our dormant passion

until that day we will support each other beyond our abilities

until that day we shall daily seek apology from Mother Nature for our mistakes

until that day we will self introspect and feel closer to our roots

until that day we will  practice gratitude towards the corona warriors

Until that day we will feed as many poor, hungry and stray as possible

Until that day we will optimize the resources we have and not waste even a tiny morsel

Yes, until that day, we will fight and fight will our might.

Never ever had any one of us imagined we will face something like a global pandemic in our lifetime. It used to be more of a thing in our history books. But that’s what life is all about, it has proved to us time and again that it is supreme and the only power which has control over what will happen in our lives. We are mere puppets in its hands and act as it commands. Some call this uncertainty, the spice of life but at the present, it feels like an albatross around our neck.

The time has come for each one of us to invoke our inner power with a pure heart and connect with the higher power above all of us to grant us a solution now before it gets too late. Tell her to see how the entire world, almost the whole of Europe and America have crumbled under the #COVID19 when they had the best medical facilities in the entire world.

What shall happen to developing countries of Asia like ours if the community transmission happens, is unfathomable. We terribly lack the infrastructure to aid 135 crore people medically, a large chunk of whom live below the poverty line but we do possess a deep faith in you our supreme power. History is a witness that wherever things have gone beyond our hands, we the tiny mortals have turned to you to come to our rescue. So my child, once again we are raising our hands to the supreme power above to come to aid us and until that day we are facing the brunt of this man-made misery.

Yes, you heard me right, if news channels are to be believed, it is suspected that Corona is a man-made virus developed in a lab at Wuhan in China and got accidentally leaked from there and has caused such mass-scale destruction all over the world including Wuhan which has now come back to life but the majority of the rest of the world still can’t. Honestly, I am not sure how true this is but if it is, it is really very sad and makes me angry as the price that we are paying is too huge for that error. They have deprived us of our portion of open blue skies and fresh air and have locked us up inside our own houses.

Oh, Lord! Please forgive them and give the scientists of the world some magical talisman to create the cure and vaccine of this deadly virus at the earliest. Until that day we will pray to you with all our heart to forgive us our sins and illuminate our path ahead with your wisdom.

I just wrote today whatever came in my mind as I am too overwhelmed by the current situation, thus, I leave it upon you to gain your lesson from this letter my child. Sometimes there is a lot written between the lines, I wish you develop the maturity to grasp that knowledge.

Always be a good human being who works to help others and not destroy them.

Take care, my little love
Your Granny
