United We Can

Once upon a time, I loved to smile

But today I have forgotten how to...

My soul is anxious and cries day and night

And I know of no means by which I can pacify it

What I had seen in the last month and a half

Has broken my heart into a million parts

The heart-wrenching cries on phone calls for help

To arrange for oxygen or for a hospital bed

The helplessness that kept us awake whole nights

Praying was the last resort we realized

But it didn’t help either

Perhaps God helps those who help themselves

And we have never been more helpless

Those were the darkest nights of our lives

No matter how hard we tried, the second wave broke our confidence

I lost my best friend, my sister lost her spouse

I knew not whether to wipe her tears first or mine

Till today I don’t know how to look into her or her little daughter’s eyes

No words can ever describe

The pain these dreadful COVID times have caused

The wounds and scars can never be healed

But let us at least give it a try I feel

Without any judgments

As best as each one of us can

There’s no other way

Then to collect together the broken pieces of our heart

United we can lift every soul

By lending a hand to everyone in need

Let all the human divides perish forever

And only humanity survive

Let’s open our heart and souls

Embracing the world as our family

To do the least

Pay your employees

Whether their work has resumed or not

Let us first save lives

There will be enough times in the future to earn

Let us today save those impoverished hands

Who had worked for us for years

As our staff, help, gardener or driver

Compassion is what sets us human beings aside

Today is the biggest test of our humane side

Feed the hungry if you can

There is no bigger karma

Remember unity is strength

In the toughest times, let’s exhibit this right

Maybe we still can’t defeat the virus

But #Unitedwecan diminish its power

Let’s spread awareness and love

Food, medicine, and mental support

To each his own

Discover ways how you can

Bring back a smile

Long lost in the pandemic’s turmoil

My eyes are moist

But my heart still is hopeful

It still has hope

Things shall turn around

We will be able to abate the third wave

With vaccination and strong planning at the individual end

Remember it calls for each one of us

coming together

#UnitedWeCan certainly end the pandemic era

32nd day of Lockdown

My precious little sweetheart,

Do you dream, my boy or do you have a sound sleep mostly? To get a deep good night’s sleep is very important. I believe that I have always slept like a baby until my mind is fretting over something when I get really weird dreams. While most people say that they generally forget what they see in their dreams, I am the rare species who remembers almost 90% of my dreams whenever I have one.

So, yesterday was one of those days when I had a dream and if it was the most beautiful of them all, something that we have been craving for so long now. I dreamt of waking up one early morn and seeing that Corona was gone and we have achieved victory over the disease. Everyone around is smiling and hugging each other, it feels like Diwali or Christmas or Eid, I can’t make out clearly as I can see people of all castes and cultures together.

Those in the hospital are extremely elated to have got cured by the right medicines for #COVID19 and the rest are being given vaccines to fight it. The national and international boundaries have been opened for travel and everyone is ecstatic to rejoin their work. The Prime Minister of our country can’t hold his tears of joy as he addresses and congratulates the nation. We are so happy to travel back home and your dad is looking forward to playing with his toys once again. He has never yearned to go to his school this much, ever in his life. He is so ecstatic about meeting his friends and teachers.

Our sincere obedience during the lockdown has indeed paid us a fortune and we are rid of the biggest pandemic of our lives. It’s a beautiful day, I see people clad in beautiful clothes, all looking vibrant and extremely jubilant. How I had missed these smiles, this laughter. Life is beautiful once again.

In some time, we reach our home and I head to my favorite coffee shop with my MacBook, my old adda to peacefully right for hours but what do I see? I see I don’t take my car instead walk to the coffee shops as saving Mother Nature from pollution is my pure intent now which has sunk in deep during the lockdown days. Once I am back I am tending to my garden and home growing our produce in our tiny kitchen garden and this is the same with everyone around. We have learned to value things. We now take life as a precious gift and life, in turn, is blessing us in its full vigor. We have learned to co-exist with nature and other species with peace and warmth for each other. Indeed the lockdown days in self-introspection have brought out the best in us which was always there but got buried under the materialistic desires.

We have now learned to spend priceless quality time whet our family and are aware of our goals. I also see myself attending the ceremony where the scientist who gave us the medicine for Coronavirus is being awarded the noble prize. This scientist is apparently from Israel.

Within moments of being there I get up, such a heart-warming dream it was, I tell myself as I smile and feel so light and good though the very next moment comes the realization that it was just a dream probably inspired by the announcement yesterday which stated Israel has found the cure of this contagious disease😊. I can’t tell you how I wished that this dream of mine comes true at the earliest and we get a victory over this disease.

Probably my sincere urge to believe that only positive things will happen weaved this dream for me and gave me so much joy. Who knows this might be a premonition to something that is really going to happen. Maybe life is just waiting for us smiling at the next corner, soon the lockdown will end and we will tread the path and go and embrace it.

The lesson learned my child is, always be happy come what may, your brain will process your mental happiness and confer you eternal bliss no matter how difficult the situations are.

Stay happy and blessed forever my child

Until that day: My 21st letter to future Grandchildren documenting lessons from COVID-19 times

31st day of Lockdown

My precious little bun,

Writing to you today as the first ray of sunrise falls on me from the window and inspires me to not succumb to the current circumstances. That’s the power of Mother Nature, she is a mother and takes care of us like her own children despite what we do to her.

This is the 21st letter I am writing to you my child and when I began writing to you early this month, I really hoped I shall be able to share some good news with you in so many days but unfortunately, I have none for you so far except for the belief that things will soon get better and

until that day we will not leave the side of hope

until that day we will still smile and suck in the tears welled up in our eyes

until that day we will try to become the better versions of ourselves

until that day we will not lose our patience

until that day we will learn a new skill or re-ignite our dormant passion

until that day we will support each other beyond our abilities

until that day we shall daily seek apology from Mother Nature for our mistakes

until that day we will self introspect and feel closer to our roots

until that day we will  practice gratitude towards the corona warriors

Until that day we will feed as many poor, hungry and stray as possible

Until that day we will optimize the resources we have and not waste even a tiny morsel

Yes, until that day, we will fight and fight will our might.

Never ever had any one of us imagined we will face something like a global pandemic in our lifetime. It used to be more of a thing in our history books. But that’s what life is all about, it has proved to us time and again that it is supreme and the only power which has control over what will happen in our lives. We are mere puppets in its hands and act as it commands. Some call this uncertainty, the spice of life but at the present, it feels like an albatross around our neck.

The time has come for each one of us to invoke our inner power with a pure heart and connect with the higher power above all of us to grant us a solution now before it gets too late. Tell her to see how the entire world, almost the whole of Europe and America have crumbled under the #COVID19 when they had the best medical facilities in the entire world.

What shall happen to developing countries of Asia like ours if the community transmission happens, is unfathomable. We terribly lack the infrastructure to aid 135 crore people medically, a large chunk of whom live below the poverty line but we do possess a deep faith in you our supreme power. History is a witness that wherever things have gone beyond our hands, we the tiny mortals have turned to you to come to our rescue. So my child, once again we are raising our hands to the supreme power above to come to aid us and until that day we are facing the brunt of this man-made misery.

Yes, you heard me right, if news channels are to be believed, it is suspected that Corona is a man-made virus developed in a lab at Wuhan in China and got accidentally leaked from there and has caused such mass-scale destruction all over the world including Wuhan which has now come back to life but the majority of the rest of the world still can’t. Honestly, I am not sure how true this is but if it is, it is really very sad and makes me angry as the price that we are paying is too huge for that error. They have deprived us of our portion of open blue skies and fresh air and have locked us up inside our own houses.

Oh, Lord! Please forgive them and give the scientists of the world some magical talisman to create the cure and vaccine of this deadly virus at the earliest. Until that day we will pray to you with all our heart to forgive us our sins and illuminate our path ahead with your wisdom.

I just wrote today whatever came in my mind as I am too overwhelmed by the current situation, thus, I leave it upon you to gain your lesson from this letter my child. Sometimes there is a lot written between the lines, I wish you develop the maturity to grasp that knowledge.

Always be a good human being who works to help others and not destroy them.

Take care, my little love
