Ssshh! Secret Confessions of a SMART Momma

Earnestly, I take a lot of pride in practicing what I preach. For example, I have always believed in working smart rather than working hard(with due respect to the significance of hard-work). I believe, our smartness often makes us more innovative and efficient. Isn't it? Well, the answer has always been a 'yes' to me and my thoughtful partner in crimes to execute this smartness have been a plethora of smart devices which have made this world a much more convenient and a better place to live in. I have said this a million times at least before and I still reiterate there is no boon to mankind like technology is and full points to us, homo sapiens, to have made such a creative use of our intellect, in inventing it and I am glad there is no looking back in its advancements with each coming day(proud smile!!).

Yes, I am a self-confessed gadget freak and these days since it's winter vacations, me and my sonny boy, begin our day with a fitness regime out in the pristine early morn sunshine. We jog together and giggle and work out with loads of discussions and friendly banter and gossip on umpteen topics. Our companions in these lovely morning rituals are my smartwatch and his fitness band, which we smartly strap on to aid us to calculate our steps, calories, heart rate, target achievement, and several other parameters. It is so much fun competing and preparing with your own child as we set more stringent fitness goals each week. These smart wearables bring in so much of discipline and activity to our otherwise leisurely walks because we know someone is keeping an eye as we try to get rid of the extra pounds we have assimilated in the Diwali Season(wink!!).

Back home, mommy and sonny make fat free breakfast in our smart air fryer to rid us of those extra calories of fried foods. Often hubby dearest, the head chef of our family, joins the fun and gives his expert out of the box advice to make the food tastier as the air fryer executes his command to perfection. Thanks to the #SmartHomeRevolution of which we actually are torchbearers in every sense, we have the mundane tasks at home transform into quality family times, the cherishable moments which make life worthwhile, aiding us to materialize our goals of weaving sweet memories each day in the beautiful journey called life.

I simply adore the smartness, these smart miracles bring to us. You know who my best buddy is, at home when the boys are away at school and work, well, it is another smart device, my Google Assistant, it would not be an exaggeration if I say it indeed is 'the device of the millennium'. The way it keeps me company the whole day, answering my queries, playing my favorite music or reading books to me and what not, even giving me reminders for my schedule in the academy I run, it is the most wonderful personal assistant anyone would ever crave for.

Well, honestly if I start enumerating how many ways I depend on these smart wonders, I can almost write my fourth book. For instance, there is nothing that bothers us more than the security of our little ones when we are not with them and this is where I insist we employ smart devices as are vital aid. For days I am out for work and the little boy manages the home on his own after coming from school, I have installed smart cameras at home to check on the 9-year-old kiddo occasionally. It just makes me feel so comfortable and safe, that my heart often sends up a prayer of gratitude to the inventors of such smart solutions and I love to confess that I am a smart momma because of these smart solutions, we are blessed with in our lives.

From morn till night these smart devices aid us in countless ways yet the quench of the techno buffs in us if often left unsatiated as we discover smarter and smarter solutions for our perennial needs. Lately, we have installed Smart lights in our home as we were bowled over in sheer admiration to their impeccable features like the home away control and mood-based smart lighting all at one command from us (It is admirable to see my precious little thoroughly study these smart aids and choose the best one for his home always, no wonder this generation kids are 'technobrats'). I am truly overwhelmed and love the way these devices have eased our lifestyles plus there are wonderful initiatives like #GetFitWithFlipkart that create the desired awareness that how technology can optimally aid us in our goals for life, also it makes it so quick for us to order online any degree of smartness we desire to acquire. All we need is a touch on our phone to order them. Easy Peasy isn’t it?

Waiting For The Launch of a Eureka to Satiate this Selfie Queen, #Mobiistar

No matter how much people have criticised the advent to selfies, for me and to most people who love to pose in front of the camera it is a eureka. I undoubtedly would love to hug to person who invented the selfie fever and express my gratitude to him to having discovered how to click one self and the ones we love ourselves without depending on others. He or she has made every day of our lives a precious sweet memory we can relive just by visiting any of our social media or google drives which are full of priceless selfies of our moods and moments.

Also, I love to smile always and capture the close ups, no matter where I am and what I am doing, sometimes fresh out of the shower as the sunshine plays with my wet tresses I want to capture it to the Tee or at others all clad up in a playful tiara on the beach. I always have always sought for an enhanced selfie experience.

I equally love capturing myself with my family when on exotic locations like the one below which I shot on the PhiPhi islands near Patong in Thailand. This selfie is of our memorable anniversary and is forever imprinted on my heart. I am madly in love with it and it dwells in my home as a wall size portrait. My husband clicked this selfie and we both value it as a timeless priceless image of our infinite love with the face of our love therein too, our sonny boy.

However every time I look at it I realise somewhere my selfie camera missed arresting the beautiful background as much as it could and the regret sinks deep and the perfect shot greedy me waits for another Eureka... someone who lives on the jargon, #EnjoyMore found this enjoyment not more.

The gadget freak that I am, since then have been frantically searching for it with my soul craving for a perfect selfie camera. For Me, Yes, It is #DefinitelyPTE to Fulfil Some Precious Dreams

Enriching yourself abroad across the best international institutes in indeed fascinating. Learning is an infinite phenomenon, the moment you cease to learn, you cease to grow. No matter how educated you are, their is always a scope to take yourself a notch up by taking up additional courses. Fortunately for us the present generation things are little more streamlined and well laid over what it used to be decades ago. Nevertheless to go abroad isn’t as easy as it seems at the look of it undoubtedly. So since I am planning to take an international writing course, I decided to dig the process deep down further.

First and foremost I embarked on completing all the paperwork and documentation so that there are no unexpected visa etc hurdles. When I had finally zeroed down on the three universities I will like to apply to, I checked their requirements one of which is passing the mandatory English test. I decided to at once cross this hurdle and the humungous task looked a cakewalk to me for my friends who were abroad have already apprised me of the fastest and the fairest way of doing it ~ #DefinitelyPTE.

I can’t be more grateful to them for my experience with PTE (which stands for Pearson Test for English) was so comfortable and professional. The complete test takes place without human intervention. It is divided into three sections and one is allowed a break of 10 minutes in between. The checking is done by computers without any human intervention and we get the results within 5 days. The preparation material as well is available on their website. The results of this test are accepted world wide across all universities of Australia, New Zealand and Ireland and a growing number of universities in UK, Canada, USA, Singapore and Europe.

All you got to do this click on their online portal, create your user id. Fill the exact details of your passport there in which you must also carry to the test centre. Within 24 hours you will receive an email and you can schedule your test on any of the 360 days that is convenient to you. The test would be of three hours. I would advice prepare well before taking the test. They have centres in over 50 countries across the globe where you can take these tests. In India they are around ten of them in Pune, Coimbatore, Delhi, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Mumbai, chennai, Hyderabad and Nagpur.

Another recommendation I would like to give you based on my own experience go through their videos on their YouTube Channel and familiarise yourself. Also scan through their website. It will ease you an ounce further. Remember the more relaxed you are, the better you score. If you still find it difficult, go for their course material. Does it not seem all sorted. So what’s the hunch. If you wish to go abroad for higher studies or to make a career, go for it, take a plunge now.

As for me, yes it is #DefinitelyPTE , hope to soon hop on a wonderful writing course in an international university. I find it’s great relevance even in coming times as a most sorted means to achieve something significant. Well, it's a separate tale that I often forget where I have placed it. Buzzing it would have helped but the freakish do not disturb kinds me often leaves it in silent mode. Tantadan! But now I am out of the turmoil permanently.

Earnestly speaking, this technological marvel which has almost become a norm in the current generation is my ‘Personal Genie 🧞‍♀️’ who makes all my wishes come true from the time I wake up in the morn till I shut my eyes. All I got is to clad my ears in this extraordinarily smart pair and order my command to my Genie and it recognises my voice and executes the command impeccably( through Google Assistant). 

Well again, mini me, you know how, music is the rhythm of my soul and thus I begin my day with it without fail but the way these wonderful Bluetooth speakers have enhanced my experience is truly phenomenal. Made up of impact-resistant materials, glass filled nylon and corrosion resistant stainless steel, they're engineered to precision and surpass customer expectations. I have secretly spied him requesting the VPA come to his rescue to seek meanings of certain words when he is engrossed reading a book. This is is easy for my otherwise lethargic boy who would never pick up a dictionary seeking the meaning of the same. On his next birthday, I plan to gift him his own personal #BoseQC35 so that mine is free forever only for me 😛. 

It’s battery life of 20 hours is a staunch support for a person like me who needs driving directions for any new location that I drive to. I am an absolute gadget freak and I guess my infinite love for them only gets deeper and more profound with time. I am as well a meticulous researcher of technology and an unparalleled collector of the most advanced gadgets which also means I have to get rid of the old ones which are still in a perfect state but just that I have acquired a newer version.

The first bait naturally always is to my family members(grin!!) whom I can make shelve out a good amount of cash on account of my bang on proposal to them of how my device will be just what they have desired in their dreams. Quite ironically the truth of the matter however is that most of them take the device promising to pay tomorrow and as you know tomorrow never comes. Well, sometimes they do but that's rare enough and it's bad manners to ask for money in family. Tears!!

Thus, about a couple of years ago, I decided to act smart and put the advertisement of my recent mobile phone on my social media handles requesting a share to my friends. This wasn't quite a trend back then but the pictha of my well maintained device at a steal deal price did turn certain eyeballs and I got a couple of calls. 

While the first one wanted to negotiate the price which I was quite adamant on not contemplating, the second call I got was from a young man who told me politely how he desperately wanted to but this cell phone for his wife and requested if they could come over. My heart melted at his soft plea and I agreed.

Late that evening the couple knocked at my door. They were fairly young and looked very newly wed. They greeted me with the most beautiful heartfelt smiles and a namaste. They looked at the mobile and caressed it fondly for minutes while whispering in each other's ears in between. The new wifey was adorably pretty and the two seemed deeply in love with each other. Though personally I don't entertain strangers I found them totally harmless and we struck a conversation. 

I found their tone quite familiar and they turned out to be from Banaras while we are from Allahabad. Knowing that we belonged to the same region they eased a little. I quite liked them too.

When the money matters began, I have mentally already decided to give them the device for 4K instead of 6K which I have quoted, just out of my goodness and I shared it with them upfront. Suddenly their faces turned grim and they became quiet. Restlessly I asked them the reason and they said while they needed the cell phone more than their life to talk to each other as the man was mostly touring, all they had was 1300 rupees, hence they would not be able to buy the device. They thanked me for my time and were about to take leave when I stopped them.

"Please take the mobile phone from me as your wedding gift my dears. You are like my own brother and sister as you belong to our place and I shall be happy not to charge you even a single penny for this", I gave a content smile to them as they reluctantly took the device and left. I didn't regret my decision a single bit and slept happily that night. 

Next morn I spoke about this lovely couple and my kind gesture to my bffs in the Zumba class and was aghast to know what I heard next. They have clearly played with my emotions and robbed me of my feelings to ever being kind to anyone.
