O Yeah! I Owe My Life To My Friends

I have been a hosteller for a major part of my life so it is needless to say my friends form my family. For the rest of my life too I have only moved from one place to another (thanks to my dad's and then my jobs) forging new friendships and adding them to my old is gold tally. All my friends, each one of them is a lifeline. Every time the tragedy queen me is about to sink her boat of life, one of them comes and rescues me and kicks me back to my usual aah, I am the strongest, self😛. Poor fellas they don’t even ask for a thank you or a hello for they know they have this weirdo friend who will get into her shell for months and not speak to anyone. I take a bow to their trust in me that they know that when out of slumber, I will be the first one to ping them and will not spare them by repeatedly calling them till they take my call. Well, they are given no room to avoid me. But I really love them big time and they know it, I am lucky to have all of them in todays times.

While I smile to almost everyone, I am pretty choosy about my friends and take time to build a life long bond. My friends are a mix bag of people younger to me, of my age as well as elder than me. I enjoy spending time with each one of them. I am a baby with most of them and no matter how casual I pose to be on their takes on life, I really think and contemplate on all that they teach me directly and indirectly. If I disagree I don’t fight anymore but keep it within me for I am too much of an my instinct person and act a lot on what my instinct says. Earlier I was not like this but probably I am ageing and thus growing calmer😜.

I would say, may be I am not that good at keeping my friendships but the friends I choose are extraordinary at it and thus I am blessed, truly blessed with them. Some months back my best friend from my school days in Pilani, came to meet me and we met after eighteen long years. What an overwhelming feeling it was. The first thing we noticed after hugging each other was that we both had gained weight😃. She was a day scholar and I was a hosteller so I often spent weekends at her place with her family. Our meeting brought such fond memories flooding back.




My friends indeed are my biggest assets, I owe my life to them. All the smiles that you see me spreading is thanks to their firm support behind my back. One of my friends has taught me to mock over the most difficult times of our lives and she has practically lead by example. Thanks to her I have learnt to relax and chill a bit. The number of dates we have had together in recent past gives a tough competition to the number of dates I have with S😊.


I hope he isn’t jealous for he knows he wears the crown of being called my best friend for eons now, but the fact is sometimes he too gets too caught up with his office work and travel which is obvious and who can understand it better than me. I have stopped bugging him with each little thing now...is the wife taking over the best friend, not sure, is his crown under threat, not sure😊...Another dear friend of mine, who calls me her younger sister has slowly inculcated in me the wisdom to handle the relationships of life very delicately. She is a smart lady who have taught me the crisp styles to deal with life♥️. I have another lovely woman in my life who is a pillar of strength throughout my writing career. We seldom talk but over the years her opinion has become so vital to me. I really count on her and more often than not, she is the first on to read my articles. It is such a pleasure discovering new things about each other everyday. We sure plan to meet pretty soon.

Sometimes, some friends younger to you as well show you the other more beautiful side of the coin so well and this young man, a blogger and a student from my academy, a twenty something years old girl are real wonderful set of friends who make life beautiful and... how did I forget my bestie from Mumbai, I call her guru-maiya...We were married around the same time, everyone on my wedding thought she was my sister. Whenever I get stuck in life miserably, I turn to her for some valid Gyan and she invariably pulls me out of the trouble 🤗.We are chalk and cheese but indeed besties, many years ago when I use to have terrible busy days at work, she used to wait for me with a hot cup of tea. She was my neighbour and with time our bond only grew.Well, there are so many more friends, I wish to write about but I guess I will save them for later. Please don't kick me if you read this and don't find yourself (grin!!).
