As a kid I stood behind my mom
In the numerous prayers and Aartis she did
I always felt a strong connect with praying
And started very early believing in the ultimate power
When I was sent to a boarding and in the nights got scared
Mom taught me a mantra from Hanuman Chalisa
Which I for the longest time believed
Always kept me safe and made me fall sleep fearless
Part of my education was in a Christian convent
But my birth is in a nuclear Hindu Family
Taught me to embrace all cultures equally
So I found praying in the church equally worthy
Towards her end my mom was in a lot of stress
So I prayed to my Lord to relieve her of it
He instead took her away all at forty nine
Hearing my prayer in the wrong way
I sank thinking I was the cause of her untimely demise
Nothing could comfort how my heart cried
That’s when a very dear friend from my office
Took me one evening to Sai’s Aarti in a nearby temple
I still remember those moments Crystal clear
When in Sai’s face I saw my mom
The Aarti had a magical therapeutic effect on me
And since then I have known whom to look to for everything
Yes, I am a staunch believer in Sai
My mom lives in him
He is the source of all my strength
Though he tests me, but so far he has never let me down
He is also my father whom I have always craved for
After our dad remarried and abandoned us
When things don’t go my way and the situations are beyond adverse
I just close my eyes and chant His name
He is my parents
He is my best friend
I go to his home in Shirdi as often as I can
For I call it my Mykaa where all my pain end
I am his stubborn careless child
Who may forget him at times
But He ensures He keeps me lifted
In all the toughest times
I really wish to thank him today
For all that he had done for me
Though tested me a bit more than others
But that’s perhaps the cost of being his favourite daughter
