Sometimes all you need to regain your mental peace is a good read

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

Past couple of months have been really hectic for me and I have been working really hard, in fact trying to put my best foot forward on many demanding fronts. Of course to gain something you miss something and what I had missed the most is my reading regime. It is a habit which has stabilised me more often than not. No matter what I read, I have to read and luckily a couple of days ago, I landed on this handbook about our minds known as, 'Put Your Best Foot Forward' by Dr. Darshana Samrah and it turned out to be a perfect decision, for the moment, exactly something that I needed to be reminded of.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Our mind is a beautiful servant, but a dangerous master. The sooner we realize the fact, better becomes our life. No matter who you are, what you do, where you belong to, you lose everything to your mind, unless you take care of it. Training of the mind in the right way, at the right time, makes our life easier and productive.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Darshana Sarmah, a Ph.D. degree holder in Social Science, hails from Guwahati, Assam. Apart from having an interest in and experience in teaching, she chose to give a gap to her career as she steps into motherhood.

MY TAKE ON THE BOOK

If you are looking to resolve your current mental crisis and attain balance and happiness and in the simplest of ways, this book is undoubtedly for you.

It subtly weaves where we go wrong and procrastinate and garner negativities in our life which steal our peace and force us down the dudgeon of depressive thoughts. The book offers practicable solutions based on the author’s own experience as well swell researched points.

I was immediately riveted to the book right at the first chapter which talked about our attitude, my personal favourite topic, also I loved author’s recommendations to train our mind and use it as our best ally. Don’t let it master us but tame it appropriately to make it our best servant.

The chapters are thoughtfully incorporated in the book without an ounce of unnecessary dramatic buildup. They have the precise information and genuine advice to follow in real life to practice mindfulness, compassion and self appreciation, extremely vital for a person’s mental health in today’s era.

The book has also inspired me to get back to meditation practice and unleash the power of my willpower to sail towards my dreams uninterrupted by all the pessimism and insecurities of the world.

I finished the book in two days letting each chapter sink in the values it wishes to embed in the readers. I recommend this handbook to one and all.

LANGUAGE AND NARRATION

Author’s narration is relaxing, it makes you ponder at each point and make corrections in your behaviour if we see a need. It gives vital lessons on time management and visualisation in a simple, understandable and effective language.

Overall this book indeed formed a worthy read and I will love revisiting it at regular intervals. You can download the limited edition free copy here

I wish the author many more wonderful literary meaningful outings like this one, in coming future ðŸ˜Š.
