A Peek-A-Boo To Lavasa : An Exotic Weekend Getaway (Travel Tales of Truly Yours Roma)

Indian Bloggers

If you have nomadic tendencies like me, if you are a person who keeps looking forward to exploring new territories in the little spare time we manage after fulfilling our responsibilities and if you are a Puneite or Mumbaikar, do take the weekend getaways tour with me, right here in this travel tales series whose third post I bring to you today (You may read about the earlier two Fantastic Imagica and Placid Kashid Beach by clicking on them here)

Undeniably, one of the most exotic getaways from Pune or even Mumbai in it's immediate vicinity is Lavasa, a hill city developed encircling an artificial water body which is built on the lines of an Italian hill town Portofino with a street and several buildings here bearing the same name.

It is a 1 hour 30 minutes drive from Pune where I live and it is pure bliss as you step in this lovely cosy place in the lap of mother nature with state of an art architecture. For once the thought of settling here does cross the mind for it's impeccable charm which holds you captive right at its first glance. It is quiet and endearing and also rich in diverse flora and fauna, quality eateries and sitting spaces by the side of crystal clear water of the centrally located lake. It is often sunshine in the day with occasional showers as soon as the threshold of heat is reached.

During day it's crazy fun going for a cruise and engaging in water sports. We also loved to take a ride on the tandem or twin bicycles. Our childlike instincts came alive as we made bubbles with our little Sonny and took in a Hop in Hop off city tour while soaking ourselves in the rain.

Evenings in Lavasa are extra special though, with cool breeze caressing you unhindered, it marks a perfect time to spend those special moments with your partner which we miss in the daily hustle bustle of life. With the advent of night it grows a little chillier and we can enjoy the pleasures of being in a hill station to the tee.

Icing on the cake is lip smacking food served hot on the outdoors. There are umpteen restaurants there, all serving great food and you can choose the one which suits your pocket. Out most favorite their is Chor Bizarre for its authentic Mughlai Dishes served with great love allowing us a lot of time to enjoy the dishes as well as each others company.

Your duration of stay there is absolutely governed by the purpose of your stay there. If you are exhausted and wish to rejuvenate, spend a night there, spend a couple of days with mother nature or take a spa. A Stay in Lavasa is generally expensive if no offers are running at that time. Keep an eye online more often than  not they run special offers. I can vouch for Hotel Mercure Lavasa for a perfect stay based on my experience. Otherwise if you are there for a picnic normally a day's trip would suffice with you not missing any of the fun. Further on if you have a time crunch, you can experience the best of Lavasa between 4 to 9 in the evening.

You will also find a general grocer' s there for all your needs and an visit Apollo hospital right their if you need some medicines. I am including all this information to make this review exhaustive and comprehensive for you. Small gift shops and fresh fruit juices shops are also readily available.

Please don't forget to take your cameras as you may miss capturing some real perfect shots. Thus whenever a  relaxing mini vacation is on your mind, you can take a weekend trip to this place.
I sure rate it a 4/5 on my personal liking meter.
